Your exam

On screen, you will see your name and the name of the exam you are taking, If this is incorrect, please notify the invigilator.

You now have up to ten minutes before the exam starts to step through some introductory screens. First, you are asked to confirm a declaration that you agree to abide by the exam regulations and will not disclose the content of the test to anyone else.

After this you will be presented with a short tutorial. The tutorial is the same as the one you will find elsewhere on this website, except that it incorporates only one demonstration question. You will see the time remaining count down from 10 minutes.

You can start your exam at any time you like. When you leave the tutorial section, the timed part of the exam will start and will be presented with the first question.

TESTER'S TIP #1
When you leave the tutorial and start the exam, the timer on screen will reset to the full time for the actual exam. This will include any extra time allowed for unscored trial items.

A personal time counter, displayed throughout the test in the top right-hand corner of the screen, shows the amount of time you have left to complete the exam. Simple navigation buttons allow you to skip forwards and backwards if you want. You can leave questions unanswered and return to them at the end via the review screen, or ‘mark’ questions to go back to and check later, again via the review screen.

TESTER'S TIP #2
Make sure you familiarise yourself with the screens and controls by practising with the demonstrator on this site. This is a fully-functioning replica of a CISI exam as it will appear on-screen at the test centre. It consists of the opening declaration, the tutorial, five specimen questions and the final review screen.
